This discussion could open a can of worms, with a thousand different scenarios.
One has got to wonder about the mindset, which has spawned such rules, in the first place. It's not like this is the Chinese Olympic gymnastic team. The kid is not 3 years older than the rest on the field. Hopefully, it's a league controlled by age.
Part of the problem is trying to make every kid feel special, when, in reality they are ordinary or mundane, at best. This applies to any field of pursuit.
The concept of valedictorian and saluditorian are being done away with, because God forbid, someone should excel scholastically, and go to the front of the line. I would bet that these same people who think this stuff up, are trying to do away with alphabetical order, because it's just not fair that one kid always gets his name called first, in rollcall.
Instead of saying to the kids on the other team, that's the kid we need to try to shut down, they are told not to try too hard, because the other team is only allowed to lead by 2 touchdowns.....How does that menatality develop a winning attitude in young, malleable minds? It doesn't. It spawns an attitude of mediocrity.
I see it everyday in every way. It shows up in every institution and corporation, in the form of quotas.....Go into a Walmart and see how many workers are sharp and quick and on their game.....Usually, a bunch of slackers and slobs. Some, even operating from an electric scooter.
Where would we be, today, if that attitude had existed with Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell or Henry Ford?
