Hello all,
I am raising 8 chickens in town. I have about an acre of land that they are able to free range on. They mostly stick to about 1/4 of my lawn. My lawn needs some help as it has a lot of weeds and I would like to get rid of them. I am asking for advice on whether or not I could use Scotts weed and feed on the parts of the lawn that the chickens do not graze on. Thanks in advance. Justine

I pull what the chickens will not eat, which is not much
I had wondering jew in the yard/run, my oldest rooster stepped into it and looked around. Then he started pulling it, and telling the girls to eat it. And they did, all of it!

Between eating the weeds, aerating the lawn, and dropping fertilizer everywhere they go, my yard has never looked better. I must have the perfect hen to yard ratio.

If you must.......I'd confine the birds from that area for a week or so.
There should be a really good rain or watering within that week.
Is it granular or a liquid?
Do you apply it yourself or hire it done??

I personally would not...it would be best just to mow it when the weeds they don't like get tall...you never know if the chemicals are going to be completely gone and you would have to keep them out of that area for quite a while and then still chance them getting sick from it possibly...
