My chickens seem to be suffering from the heat. They are loose foraging and I don't know what to do to help cool them down. Any suggestions? BTW: they run from water spraying or misting in their direction.

Make sure their water stays fairly cool. I freeze watermelon and bananas to give to them as a frozen snack. Make sure they are there is plenty of shad available. I just put in a screen (hardware cloth) door to keep up good air flow in the coop. You could bring fans out there.

Or get ac in the coop :D
Hope maybe some of that helps. good luck!

We have a little pool for kids with water for them but it rained today, maybe what is going on is the mugginess along with the heat.

Chickens dunk their heads?

I will put some ice in their water and freeze some soda bottles for them. Thanks.

We are overgrown with trees and bushes, plenty of shade but there's not much breeze right now. I will see if I can find a small fan to put in the coop. It has one window, 2 screened openings at either end of the building and the chicken door into the run and the main door on the opposite side of the building from the chicken door. I open the gate to the run to let them out and then open the door so they can hop down in front of the building. They are not locked down at all at this point, well, except the 3 1/2 old chicks I put out there. I want them to realize where they are to come back to before I allow them to roam free.

They will eat frozen watermelon and bananas?

Mine do and love it! If they do not like it that hard frozen then just make it very cold. It can help cool them down temporarily.
