Help please
I tried to search but get different answers.
My hubby put water in the incubator but I just checked and it’s too much.
The humidity is sitting at 82% and I don’t know how long it’s been that high. I tried to take water out but still it says 82%.
We are on day 8 and have chicks and movement. I don’t want to lose them. Will they be ok? Is there anything else I can do?
We have usually only used broody hens to hatch eggs and have done quail eggs on the incubator but this is the first time for us doing chicken eggs so I’m nervous

The humidity in the incubator is affected by the air around it. Where I am I don't put any water in until lockdown. Then it is just a small surface area.
With humidity short periods of high or low are not a problem. It will take a bit for the droplets to dissipate. Since humidity is affected by the amount of surface water it won't go down until the droplets are gone.

Agreed^. When I lived in Maryland where it seemingly is always humid I always dry hatched. A couple drops of water in the incubator would send the humidity flying.

Thank you both so much.I don’t know how long it’s been like that. He was trying to be helpful 😂
