Too much humidity?

Nothing happened at all. All eggs didn't hatch I bought a Janoel 48 egg incubator. Hopefully have more luck with that. Going to try to dry incubate

I had much the same experience with my Brinsea Mini Advance. The first two hatches were 100%. Then 15%, then 0% and 0%. The eggs felt very warm and moisture was pooling under the egg tray. Very frustrating. I bought a second hand incubator (Brinsea Octagon Advance Ex). So happy and optimistic - my 38th birthday present (that is the great thing about getting older!).

Then - bang! - disappointment again! The new incubator temp was off, according to the seller. Lots of stress with 6 different thermometers, all reading different temps - and 30 eggs waiting without proper storage.

Long story short: My small Brinsea was 4 degrees off from the displayed temp, my new Brinsea was 0,5 degrees off (celsius). I was cooking eggs in the small incubator, and freezing eggs in the large one.

I am now on day 10 with both incubators, correct temperature and mostly dry incubating them, hoping for top results now.

So, you should definitely get an accurate thermometer and hygrometer, and double check the settings before you start a new batch. Don't trust the display... Buying a new incubator does not always solve the problem!

Hi there, my humidity is real high on my incubator (it just wont lower no matter what I do) - Ive set it to 45% humidity, but, it is around 60% now... we have had some wet weather so lots of moisture in the air.
What can be done in this case? also, is having a high humidity througout the hatch a problem? Surely, if a broody hen is on her eggs in wet weather it would be higher humudity.

I don't know what kind of incubator you have but can you set humidity very low... maybe 0% and/or take all water out.

Hi have one of those 20 egg RCom King Suros - Ive done a hatch in it a few weeks ago & worked well.
On this hatch I set the humidity at 40% - but, it just doesnt come down... the actual machine hasent pumped any water in at all.
I can set the humidity down to 0% - but, I think the air/moisture of our weather at the moment (East Coast of Africa) is pretty wet.

My question is: what would happen if the humidity is 55-65% for the whole hatch? surely if its this moist/humid in nature, a hen that sits on her eggs would have the same problem?

Man, Ive tried everything; opening the vents (which I think just allows more humid air into the bator); added sachets of those silica packs to suck up the moisture. I read to put rice into the too to soak up the humidity.
