Too much protein

All I have ever raised is heavy breeds. The ALBC doesn't know crap about chickens especially since Don S. left. I wouldn't trust a word they said about fowl period. saladin

OK, now I am confused - I feed mine Blue Seal layer crumbles and mixed with Purina Flock Raiser (just in the winter) for the xtra protein
Is this bad for them?

If you raise Malays or Shamos and feed high protein feed continually you are going to have more than fertility problems. You are going to have leg problems.

Grow them slowly for healthy long-lived fowl. saladin

So, based on the above posts, should I be feeding my Red Stars higher than the 16% protein my Blue Seal feed delivers right now? They continue to lay well and feathers/bodies are pristine.

Games and Orientals. These are NOT light breeds; particularly the Orientals!

Where in the world do you think the meat in the dual (not duel)purpose breeds came from?

My Games average between 6 and 7 lbs. The Orientals: Asils 7-13lbs., Malays 10-12 lbs., and Shamos 10-12lbs.
