Too much ventilation?

No larger than I've heard it's supposed to have; the bottom two feet has additional smaller wire to keep them from poking their heads out.

No way in this world I could have afforded enough hardware cloth to cover the entire run. I don't know how you people do it.

we only put the hardware cloth on the lower 4' of the run and buried 12" of it in the ground.. it was the best we could afford at the time so the top and top/sides are 1" chicken wire.. we did insulate so i hope it helps
