aww Sorry to hear about your hen... I hear mating in the BB's can be rough if the Tom is giant!
I got heritage breeds cause I had researched it before going out and getting any... I can understand though if someone sort of "impulsively" gets poults and then doesn't know they're a meat bird. It's just a shame.
And I didn't literally mean an expiration date lol... I know they don't keel over (or "go bad" lol) 365 days after breaking through their shell haha.

so far they seem better especially since they are free ranging full time now.

yaaaay.. since coming on BYC often, I've heard of a lot of BB's living ten years or so... a good friend of mine had a BB tom that lived till ten and she adored him!
