Been meaning to get a little garden help for quite some time; seven Indian Runners will be arriving on the 15th of June. Decided to go with ducks due to the reported robustness of ducks in wetter climates and the wife having an allergy to chicken eggs.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
(A) Decided to go with ducks, however, the neighbors growing up had a small farmstead with ducks and chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
(A) Seven (7) Indian Runner DUCKS ordered and arriving on the 15th of June. My first foray into bird keeping.
(3) What breeds do you have?
(A) See above
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
(A) Looking forward to fresh duck eggs and natural pest control in the garden
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
(A) Culinary, food preservation (curing, fermenting), gardening, power mechanics, repair, design and fabrication/construction.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
(A) Two Australian Shepherds.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
(A) Just guessing it was a link from another BB or a Duck Duck Go search. Definitely one of the best search engines, with Swisscows being another one, due to the no sex or violence in the return links.
