Took them to science fair and lost one

I am glad the other one is doing good. If it starts acting listless, add some sugar to the water. Good luck with the remaining eggs. What about getting the homeschooling parents together one night a week for three weeks for a project?

What about maybe filming the process. Even if you don't have a cam of some kind you can take pictures while they hatch. Then make a poster board with the pictures blown up. That way the kids can see the pictures and... wait for it... the 3-5 day old chicks! Much safer and more creative for your little one to express themselves.

Let us know if any more hatch!

Good luck with the rest, these things happen it may have gotten chilled or it may have had an genetic issue as I have had newly hatched chicks get lost (while with a broody) for a few hours until I realized and found them and they survived.) The other should hatch but may be slower as the tepm drop may have caused them to slow down. Live and learn and dont let it get you down

Sometimes chicks just die, nothing you can do about it. I NEVER "lockdown" I can't my incubator fits thirteen trays and while my chickens eggs are hatching the duck and goose eggs gotta be turned every morning and evening. No electric turners here. I hope the rest of your eggs are O.K. Some words of support often told by my father, and other poultry raisers I know, "If it's gonna hatch, it's gonna hatch, no matter the circumstances."
