It's been a few weeks since I posted any updates on my flock. Big changes has happened the last few weeks. Nugget and Momma both went broody at the same time and their chicks turned 4 weeks old today. Looking through my pictures I took today i'm seeing lots of boys, it is not meant for me to be visited by the pullet fairy. The 3 red game boys were re homed after they tried to kill one of the chicks. My marans are now 4 months old and the boys hormones kicked in and for the sake of my 2 girls I sold 3 of them. Toothless and Drummy (Drumstick) are the only resident boys left. I'm giving these chicks another 2 weeks and then re homing any boys. Momma hen is down to only 2 out of her 5 chicks thanks to a suspected raccoon attack 2 weeks ago. Nugget still has all 8 of hers although i had to remove the one that was badly injured to hand rear after it ended up with a bad peck injury. From the base of its head down to its shoulders it had all down and top layer of skin removed. Cheepy has fully recovered and in a few days time will be transitioned back outside. Henrietta has decided its time she try's her hand at being a mother and i expect her to start sitting tomorrow or the next day. She currently has a stash of 11 eggs and today began acting and looking like a angry puffed up turkey chasing anyone who looked at her the wrong way. I took a lot of pictures today and will upload them in the next post. Toothless is wonderful with the chicks. He spends his time helping both hens show the chicks how to forage, he's even let them nap on his back at times.

This is cheepy who for over 2 weeks has stayed in my bedroom due to it's injury. I'm praying Cheeps is a girl as we all have gotten attached. She *i hope lol* loves to watch tv perched on someone's shoulder.

The last photo cheeps is in Uncle Dirt's as i call him stall. Dirt loves all the chickens. All 3 of the horses do really but Dirt's stall is their favorite to dust bathe. He'll get in his favorite corner and both mothers and all the chicks will be scattered out dust bathing or napping and he wont move a muscle until everyone's finished and moved on.

The marans are Daisy (clean legs), Holly and Drummy. Daisy is my lap chicken and when i'm outside insists on spending half the time either in my lap if i'm sitting down or being carried around.

I seem to be the rooster magnet. I always get too too many boys. Even now, I have four boys and 27 girls...since I rehomed 13 cockerels...and this morning, I am looking at a few of my "girls" thinking they are low key stealth boys....its yet to be determined.
I love your flock and Uncle Dirt! How awesome when everyone gets along.
