There's a chicken called a top hat and I was wondering if any of you could tell me the type of weather they can handle.

There is no top hat breed, Polish and some of the other crested breeds are sometimes referred to as top hats.

Crested breeds like

Polish, Crevecoeurs,Sultans, Houdans, and Spitzhaubens

are more prone to aerial attacks by predators because they cannot see as well as non crested breeds. If you have an insulated coop, weather should not be a factor in keeping these birds, however these breeds are going to be less cold tolerant than a large heavily feathered dual purpose breed.

I have had 2 polish for 5 years. The one on my avatar is a very nice bird, and the other is kind of ornery. They have done fine in the Smokey mountains with temp to 85, 90 top summer and 25 bottom normal in the winter. We just did 12 the cold snap, with no problems. We have a non-insulated, unheated coop. Be aware that Polish are interesting, but not good layers.
