raising tophat chicks and wondering how well they really do in the cold weather,gets a little cold up here in northern maine......

We are in SC, but this winter was the worst we have had in a decade. My Polish and Spitz did great. The only issue was with our Spitz rooster that wanted to sleep with his tail outside the coop. The freezing rain formed a complete icicle of it!

He was fine when it melted though. These birds are tougher than they look.
 
i've never even heard of tophats! ... probably because i'm new to this whole chicken thing.
