How does a topic get closed? Why did my topic get closed? I just would like to know so I can avoid making the same mistake next time.

Because a moderator decided it needed to be closed.

Threads are closed for a few reasons:
1. It or a subject in it goes against the forum rules.
2. Posts are getting out of hand/posters are not following the forum rules.
3. It's super old, duplicate, etc.

And there's a rule of not questioning moderation, by the way.

To avoid having your thread closed by any of your own posts, re-read (or read) the forum rules.​
