Topic of the Week - Feeding table scraps to your flock

Mine get pretty much anything from he garden except unions, and peppers. They get left over spaghetti, pizza, noodles, mashed potatos and gravy, corn, and when we clean out our fridge and freezer they get all the fruits but I freeze them for the hot days. And get to free range every other day, old bread, eggs, egg shells you name it they get it.

Mine free-range about 8-12 hours a day. They get a lot of whatever is available in the yard, some of my grapes, lots of bugs - I really only supplement them with veggie and fruit scraps and very rarely, bread. Nothing interesting. Hehe

I used to give mine lots of treats but now i dont really. But do sometimes. When it's hot i give them watermelon, grapes, blueberries, etc, juicy food. I try not to give them moldy food or too gross or old things but some people give them everything. When I got them I thought that I would but so far I've been paranoid lol my family will sometimes sneak them stuff without telling me but they're fine aha i give lots of bread too aha they love it

All the way from Queensland Australia. My flock of 14 like to have porridge, oats, freshly cooked rice or fried rice, not much baked goods if they do get it I feed them wholemeal or grain bread, they love Watermelon especially on a hot day, they get fresh lettuce and produce from the veggie garden like kale, lettuce and fresh corn. They get treated to live meal worms or super worms and let out to roam on 2 acres of fresh grass, soil and trees. Plus the high protein layer mix as their normal feed.

I feed mine table scraps and some other delicious treats my 5 hens likes to eat. They mostly like to try something new but mostly I feed them bread, warm oatmeal, egg shells are very good for them because it helps with egg shell production and my eggs are always hard to crack :p! Occasionally, I feed them treats everyday but mostly chicken feeds to so is a mix of treats and chicken feeds which my hens don't like. I'll try some of you guy's suggestions next if I can... :D

I am new at keeping chickens. I have given them frozen fruit and vegetables in a block of ice during the heat last few weeks. I also give them zucchini cucumbers cantaloupe whatever is extra from the garden. They love corn on the cob. They have had scrambled eggs and cooked potatoes left over from breakfasts. I haven't tried dairy or bread. They seem to love it all except radishes.
