Topic of the Week - Moving chicks out of the brooder and into the coop

Not good!
If you want him in your space, it should only be by invitation! And when he weighs 8 pounds and has big spurs, is this what you really want???
Mary
I do not want that Mary, I do not want that at all. I didnt think it was good that he did that, and no I dont want him jumping on me at 8pds. I didnt see it coming. I didnt know he was a he until he crowed the other morning! I always thought the spur development was the indication of a male. He doesnt even have the nubs yet. He however had the most red little pea comb. Again, never seen a pea comb OR Americana chicken so I thought it was normal. oh well, I'll try my best with him. I have plenty of space and time with them. I'm looking forward to experiencing a rooster after 4 years with hens. Thank you for your time Mary, I appreciate your advice more than most. <3

Some cockerels grow up nice, and some don't. This is a learning experience for you, he might learn not to do this sort of thing, hopefully.
This doesn't seem to be an attack, but is very rude behavior. Have you been hand feeding, or having them in your lap?
Our cockerels learn to get out of our space, like you see the dominant hen requiring less assertive birds to move out of her space,
@Beekissed has a good article about managing roosters, worth looking up.
