I like Tori Spelling, and I like the Tori and Dean shows. . . but I'm not sure how I feel about her toting a chicken around like some fashion accessory. Sure the chicken looks clean and well taken care of, and I'm glad more people are into having small backyard flocks, but generally it's a detriment to any breed that becomes Hollywood "arm candy." What did 101 Dalmations, Frasier, and Paris Hilton do for dalamations, Jack Russell terriers, and chihuahuas? Not any particular good. Thousands of those breeds ended up in shelters because of a Hollywood craze, poor breeding, and people wanting to acquire an animal because they saw a well-trained one on a movie or tv show and thought they would all automatically be that way. I think people should be educated, and walking around with your silkie like it's pocketbook isn't helping educate. People want to jump all over TSC because they have chicks in bins and anyone can pick them up, and then applaud this? I don't get it.

Just my opinion, ok? I personally think chickens should be allowed to be chickens, and not some sort of bizarre fad.

The silkie she is carrying and the baby goat her husband is carrying are cute but the whole thing screamed calculating, staged publicity stunt to me. What better was to get attention than one carrying a beautiful, clean chicken and the other carrying a sweet little baby goat - complete with their "farm boots". It seems very coincidental that Reese Witherspoon was in the news for her recent wedding, which was on a farm, and chickens were specifically mentioned - maybe a case of Hollywood one-ups-manship... AKsmama made some good points about Hollywood arm candy and the fate of them. Maybe I am being too harsh and judgemental but I just feel if you have to put a "pet" out there like that and parade it around, it can only be for the benefit the person will get and not the animal...
