torn Ligaments treatment help please

Hi all my little Pekin Bantam had an accident and was diagnosed by our vet as having torn her leg ligaments. . .I have been treating her with the anti inflammatory prescribed and she is on a sling. She was fine the first couple of days, feisty and eating but now she seems depressed, only eating a bit and refusing to drink. Will st John's wort help with that?

We have got another chicken in the sick area to keep her company but does not seem to be doing much.

I've dealt with sprained or pulled ligaments and tendons before, never a torn ligament. I can tell you that it's a very long healing process that takes time. By time, I'm talking about weeks for minor sprains, several months for severe injuries, torn ligaments would take much longer. Roosters rarely recover from these injuries and I've eventually had to put them down.
Hens recover about 75% of the time IF placed in a caged away from the flock and will require frequent attendance; providing medications, clean water and feed, cage cleaning and most importantly as in your case...immobility. You must not have your hen up walking around which will cause further irreparable damage. This might be an impossibility and there may come a time that you'll have to make a decision regarding her quality of life, that the best thing might be to humanely cull her.
Only TIME heals these types of injuries.

If she is used to free ranging you might try to cut some clover and grass for her. Mercury loved getting some in a dish with some dirt that she could forage through.She had a broken leg and this would break up her boredom.
