Ive had a silkie mixed in with the rest of my flock since day 1. Everything had been fine until today I came home and the silkie was under the coop after dark. After looking at her, her back sides the skin is torn. The only thing I can think of is something tried to snatch her or one of the large fowl birds got to aggressive. What can I do for her? I'd post a pic but I don't know how from my phone. It's pretty bad but seems superficial. The skin is definitely torn several inches and it's more of a pealed off than cut.

I would bring her in. Clean her off with a mild soap and water or, a 50% peroxide mixture. Dry her really well. Coat is good with neosporin, without pain reliever. Put her is a safe, quiet, darkened place. Give her plenty of fresh food and water. If you would like, you could melt a baby aspirin in a cup of water for pain. If you have electrolyte solution, that would be good also. Good luck with her. Keep us posted. Sounds like someone tried to have chicken dinner..

I'm pretty sure it's from a roo since its on both sides right at the wings. All
I know is 3 out of 4 Roos will be leaving the farm one way or another.

Sorry, when I read the description I was thinking it was lower on the back like something got it's mouth on her hinny. I've never had a crazed rooster..I hope I never have to deal with one.

I hope your hen makes a wonderful recovery :)
