Tornado in Virginia

My brother in law and his family live down in Suffolk. He's a Pastor at a local church there and he and his family were in the church when it hit. He said it was only 200 yrds away from them. Scary. They have no power still and only contact was made via cell phone. I know Virginia can get the occasional tornado but those were big ones that hit. I hope everyone is OK.

Doing good in Powhatan. Just very heavy rain here. One of DH's friends called him yesterday to say there was a tornado and it had over turned cars. Thankfully he and his family who were traveling were ok.

Hoping everyone else in Va is ok and unharmed.

My DH was on his way home yesterday from work when it hit. He almost ALWAYS goes home the route the tornado took, but decided to take the streets instead and veered off one exit before the one that the tornado hit near. He looked over in time to see what was starting (he's been a weather man in the Navy for the last 15 years and knew what he was looking at before it dropped down)... Anyway, he stepped on his gas peddle and came home, then freaked out again when he arrived to find out me and the girls were out at "Walmart". He thought we were in Suffolk, but we'd gone to a different one for once.

Everyone here is ok, but whew...close one! Today is sparkling and sunny though. I hope that the people that suffered yesterday in VA will be able to recover.

I am glad that everyone that has posted is okay!!!!!!!!!! Still haven't heard from my niece yet. Patience is not one of my best qualities.

Be safe and happy!

Hi everybody. All is well here in New Kent. We got pounded pretty hard by rain and some very strong gusts. We had some large limbs come down, and the wind carried things all over the yard, but thankfully, we did not get touched by any tornadoes. I saw one, and so did my dh but they were both up very high, which once I watched the news is right on track with what they said the storm did.

Has anyone heard from Zunibee or Mergmet? I believe they are both near the Suffolk area.

Rachel

A tornado just missed us by less than a mile. We lost electric from about 5:00 until midnight. DH pulled out the generator and hooked up the water pump, 2 bators. We set up boxes and lamps and brought in all of the younger chicks and turkeys. They were fine. I hear there was a lot of damage just less than a mile away from us.
