Tortoises

Yeah I use to have a Red Legged tortoise in my Teens her name was Amy and she was a real sweetheart and went everywhere with me even had a special basket built just for her to go with me when I went riding my bicycle. she loved that. her favorite food though was Snails, and strawberrys

I sure do miss her OH and she was really smart too if I told her to come back to me she'd double back and come right on over

can't go wrong with a Red Leg they are beautiful, smart, good natured,a manageable size etc. and just a joy to have but as has been hinted at being as they're from a tropical enviroment you gotta make sure to keepem warm in the winter or they'll get respiratory infections which are a nightmare to effectively cure.

I friend has given me a leopard tortoise they got last week but had to get rid of it bcus their sulcatta kept bullying him. He said that the other tortoise was beating him up bad and did that to his shell. I'm sure it will grow back fine but I just wanted to know if there was anything I should be doing to help him.

I'm sure it will take a while to grow back right. Glad he wont get beaten up at your house! Give a powder vitamin/mineral supplement and research a good variety of foods for him and eventually he'll be ok...
Morla loves the weeds we pick for her, she is a russian...constantly trying to provide variety...I'm going to buy a tortoise greens seed mix to make a tortoise garden!

Our 3 Sulcata girls. Left to right, Chip, Goofy, and Grunt. They're all in the 8-10 year range and Chip is the lightest at 65 pounds. They lay an egg that looks like a ping pong ball and is just a bit smaller. 20-50 eggs per clutch. We've got about 40 in the incubator right now and we'll see how many make it to hatch.

And this is Mr Tortie. Another adoptee, he came to us last summer from a couple who were downsizing to a condo after all their children had grown and moved out.He was a bit malnourished before he came to us, which is why he's got all that pyramiding going on. He's settled right on since he arrived though.
