Hubby is not new to chicken world, but I AM and we are having so much fun with our little flock. Our chicken house and yard is not fancy. We both are retired teachers, and got a start when a friend, before he passed away, tried to talk my husband into getting a start....My husband has done most, if not all the work. I just get to "play" and keep up with the eggs of course. AND give the occasional treats. This all began when our friend asked us to take down his chicken house after he passed and to get the chickens, too. We got the ones his wife did not sell and then got mostly the tin. So it's not new and shiny but they all seem to be happy with it. We have 3 roosters and 27 hens. We were getting more than a dozen eggs daily and then we enlarged the yard. I'm guessing it was a bit much for them...all the extra racket and such and hopefully they will settle back into their production. Many of them are named already. We've been in the home chicken "business" now for about 2 months and feel they are a part of our family. I've included a picture of our latest addition, an Easter egg-er who laid
