You're coop is cute and you have some beautiful pullets. I would definitely keep the top section open for good ventilation to keep moisture from building up in the coop. Feathering is a wonderful insulator and moisture is a much greater danger than cold. Good luck with your flock.Thanks for the friendly welcome everyone! I've attached photos of the coop. It's 4x8 with 7 ft ceiling covered in hardware cloth and completely vented on both 8ft sides. There is also a double pane window that I keep the top section open for circulation. Not sure if I should keep this open once it's down to freezing though.
I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes. One of the reds, and one buff I call Lucy & Ethel.
