totally new personality after laying for the first time!

Hi I just wanted to share what a huge difference in personality in my pullet since she started laying!! She was ALWAYS shy every since she was little and not like my other girls My other girls love to be held but she did not. She would always have a awful fit when I'd pick her up and when I'd go to pet them she would always shy away. Well, Friday she laid her first egg, Sunday her second and Monday her third . Since she had been laying she is SO friendly! She actually follows me, I can pick her up without her making a fuss and she has become very friendly! I was cleaning her area and she actually jumped on my arm and perched there! I am very surprised at what a night and day difference in her personality there is! My other girls are all little loves and always had been but she I thought was going to be my shy one. Now since she has laid she's as friendly as my others! It's really amazing what a difference laying has made in her! ! Now she's my little friendly girl who will follow me and even wants to be held! ! I am really shocked at how different she has became in a weeks time! If you were to know her before you would have NEVER thought she would ever become so friendly! Ever since she was a little baby she never much cared to be touched or held. She would run away and make the biggest fuss if you picked her up. Now she WANTS to be picked up and loves to be petted! It's like she is a completely different bird! I wanted to post this to let others know if they have a shy bird like she was it's quite possible that once they start laying they will get a completely different personality! My pullets behavior changed drastically in one weeks time! So if you have a shy one don't give up hope because she just might change into the most loving sweet bird once she begins to lay!! I'm very happy about her new behavior! Now ALL my birds are very friendly and loving! It just amazes me that she can change that much in a weeks time! ! Have any of you expirenced this as well with your first time layers?? It's like night and day! What a difference!!

That's really interesting. I have heard of some pullets being more bossy when they first start laying, but this is the first time I have heard of one being more friendly, which is surely a more welcome change.

Yes its so strange she is a entirely different bird. The flock dynamics have changed as well. She used to be the last to eat now she is the first to eat. They all have always got along perfectly and that hasnt changed but when it comes to feeding she is now first and my bird that was first is last. They changed places in the flock. I m really happy her personality and behavior has changed! Now I can love on her and she does not mind!

Have the other pullets started laying yet, or is she the first? I have heard of pullets who start laying first gaining status in the pecking order which may make her more confident.

She is the first to lay. That must be what happened! She gave me another egg today! That's three days in a row she's laid! Not bad for a little silkie♡ she must have more confidence now! It's too cute!
