touching eggs in the nest box?

my silkie hen is sitting on an egg .. we have others in an incubator that are progressing nicely .. i was curious to see if the hens egg is as well .. if i touch the egg to look inside will she go back to sitting on it ? or will it be a lost cause ? please help new to hatching .. but would love to see mommy hatch one of her own ..thanks in advance <3
