Toulous? Pilgrim? Mixed breed? What did I just buy?

Well I am pretty sure its a gander. Ursula didn't fit as a boys name, so I now call him Spruce. My male sebastopol keeps chasing him away from his girl and poor spruce hangs out with Claude the blind khaki duck. Do you think this is a good assumption or will a male chase off a female too? So I think I need a girl goose for him! I will search craigslist for now and if I don't find one, I will wait until spring and order one.

GB, depending on what breed you want we can ship a single to you in state without much effort, or you could drive up to pick up.

Buxton, they can and will chase off new comers. Vent and DNA samples are the only way to be sure on gender before you either get eggs or get no eggs.

Thanks CelticOaks, I am new to geese as you can tell

. I am so used to ducks and chickens, geese are truly unique! I really want a buddy for him/her, should I get him sexed before getting one? I know ducks and chickens get pretty nasty with too many boys to girls and wasn't sure about geese.

you can very easily keep two geese or two ganders together as long as you never add 1 female with 2 males down the road. our flocks free range together all summer and are split up for breeding season to keep the boys from fighting.

I have a male and a female sebbie and now this toulouse. If this toulouse is a boy and I get another girl, will the boys still fight?

There's a chance that they may still fight during breeding season, unless you separate the pairs. Hopefully your toulouse is a goose (female), and you can get her another female so she can have a buddy.

Celtic I believe know where to send the feathers for a DNA test and I think it is only $20.00. Celtic would know because she has DNA sexed. I have never done the DNA testing that is yet. It will come my turn in the future.
