My husband has a large supply of brand-new towel bars. I was looking at them today and of course thought...roosting poles! I plan on having him build me a banty-coop sometime next year and wasn't sure if these would be practical? Do you think that it would be too small for a bantam? All I have right now are standard size chickens and I'm not sure if the size would be comfy for the bantams or not

I think if your winters are cold, the towel bars would be cold if they were made of metal.

I use tree branches.

Ditto, never use metal. Wood is the only way to go. Plastic may not be too bad in the summer but they dont hold up the weight and they are just as bad as metal. They can also give tiny splinters when they show age and wear and tear.

So better off using wood.

Yup, i use 1X4's and tree branches, but have used PVC pipe as well and it worked, just if you have heavy birds don't put the small bendy type in there.

Good call guys...I'll stick with the branches from yard, just like the standards
