Toxic millipedes here :(

Did not know this!:idunno I live in a very damp climate with lots of leaves in the fall... probably a perfect environment!
Did you get a good look? You said your landlord knew about them? Any name or special type that is known for this?

My landlord AND a neighbor suggested it but it kinda went in one ear and out the other til I Googled it all. It was right after that horrible month-and-a-half downpour, so everything that wasn't rotting was still damp. =( I don't know about type or anything, but they will apparently shack up in damp chicken straw. :( Oh, and HUGE! :-o

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if I even asked a valid question, considering the interwebz say the substance they create is a type of CYANIDE!! :-o
I live in South Africa. We went on a guided walk in a monkey Sanctuary and the guide told us that the monkeys scavenge for millipedes, break them open and spread their insides all over their fur, which intoxicates them. It would make sense then that eating them would create even worse symptoms. Thank you for sharing, fore-warned is fore-armed.
