I was wondering what you use for "Toys?" Here is one thing I use that seems to work pretty good! I put hay or greens in there, and it seems to amused them! And it keeps them from pecking each - other and stuff! What do YOU use for toys?

I completely agree. Who needs an egg basket when it makes such a good toy?

I think chicken toys are great! In fact, I'm thinking of making another page on my BYC pages, just about chicken entertainment. Keeps them happy, out of trouble, and amusing to watch. The hanging cabbage head is a great classic.

The love to have a pile of leaves in the run, especially with scratch thrown on it. My newest toy is a suet feeder--I found a seed block at Lowe's that is 16% protein, glued together with gelatin. I hung it up and it has been a huge hit.

I tried making them a swing, like Mountain sunshine, but they haven't taken to that. Another guy here has a small rocking horse in his run, and it is the cutest thing ever (anything they can perch on, like stumps, is popular).

Roosts are great, even better a large section of a tree, with branches.

Writerofwords uses plastic bottles, with holes punched in them, filled with seed. I've got to try that!

Have you ever heard of a suet ball? It is a wire ball with a treat inside. I have heard that the birds really go for it, chasing the ball til the treat is GONE!!
