The Crazy Chicken Lady
The dimensions of this tractor are 4x6. The height is 33" but the others were only 30 because the 33" tall was too tall for my little short self. Now I can easily step into the others.
In this pen, at this time I have 3 pullets that are almost grown. Two Cochins and a Langshan. They are happy enough because I move the pen every 2 days and they get fresh grass, bugs and get out of their own poo. There is a roost in the back, if you can tell on my BYC page. It is at an angle so they can be near the front for fresher air or nearer the back for more protection from sun, wind or rain.
The other 2 pens this size I have a pair of breeding Marans and the other pen has a mature roo waiting for his chance at his ladies in a larger tractor.
The stuff on top and sides is PVC roofing material. I get it at Lowes' for about $12 a sheet. I have lots on hand and just messed with this beginner model but have better success with the others I have completed. I made the corners tighter and closed in so rain can't get in the back or wind. Yes, it is slanted and the rain runs off the back and I left an overlap so it will not run back in on the chickens.
I had to charge the batteries on my camera today so in the morning I will get more close up photos of the better ones to let you see how I made them.
