How much room would three buff orpington hens need in a chicken tractor? Coup and run. I've heard a few different things and I'm sort of confused as to which advice to follow. I was considering the a-frame style since it would be moved daily to a different spot in the grass. This is my first attempt at any sort of construction and I'd like to keep things simple and inexpensive, but also relatively aesthetically pleasing. If you have any suggestions at all, I'd really appreciate them!

Will the tractor be their only coop or is this just for the day time?

I go by 4 sq ft in the coop and 10 sq feet in the run for each chicken. That is the minimum I do, but I to try to give mine more space. Some say you can get by with 2 sq ft in the coop, but there are times the chickens need to be cooped up or don't want to be out in bad weather.

The tractor would be their primary home. I'd love to be able to let them free range during the day, but I'm unsure about how my dog will react. He's fine with cats, but is 9 months old and has never encountered a chicken. (Though he has seen ducks and is passively curious, but doesn't seem to have any interest in chasing.)
