If you order from one of the big breeders you can't really be guaranteed that your high dollar "sexed" ducks will actually be what you ordered either. I know that @Runner duck mom did NOT get what she ordered so it could happen.

TSC employees don't usually know much of anything about ducks so I wouldn't even listen to their "advice" if I were you.

Are you aware that pekins are very prone to leg issues because of their weight and rapid growth? It seems like a ton of threads lately has been about just that! Crested ducks have many issues too and I wouldn't recommend them for a first-time duck owner.

Yes, we initially ordered 2 males from Metzer for our 1st ever ducks. Thinking they would be quiet and we didn't want or need eggs. But they ended up sending 2 girls instead...big surprise when they started laying eggs!
2nd time we ordered 1 male and 2 female and they did get it right that time. I don't know how common it is for there to be mistakes with sexing ducklings. I would imagine they would have offered to send us more ducklings to fix their mistake but I never contacted them. Yes, the shipping sure is expensive!
We now have 2 drakes and 3 females which seems to be working ok as long as we keep the boys seperate from each other.
We have an incubator now but ive had the same issue, not knowing how many males we would get...so no ducklings for us this year

I ordered 5 ducklings from idealpoultry and the total was only around 40$(including shipping), and all came alive and well(tho definitely tired looking) but I also got their b gel plus or whatever that they advertise to hydrate them quickly and giving them vitamins and whatnot. it's been several days and all have perked up a lot, so I'd recommend idealpoultry for there great costs. i also ordered goslings from welphatchery, but since I havnt received them yet, I cant yet vouch for them, but they do have free shipping(but they also have a minimum and I think duckling are 15-25). so for less, idealpoultry was good, as I was able to order only 5.
