Trade ya! Chicks for eggs! LOL

My DH just called a neighbor to tell him that we have five dozen eggs for him. The neighbor said that he was busy "dumping chicks" right now and would be over shortly. He has commercial chicken houses (10, I think) and each house holds somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000+ broiler chicks.
When DH told me this, my chicken-obsessed mind immediately hatched a plan, pardon the pun.
Told DH I would trade the neighbor my eggs for a few of his chicks.
DH put the kabosh on my plan. Said I'm not set up for chicks.
Some folks have no understanding of the chicken addiction.

Next time just deal with the neighbor. Don't include the "middle man".

I would have to agree with you both! Some people just don't understand this addiction...I am lucky, my DH saw our first chick this morning and is all for my addiction! He is now hooked...

I would love to see one of my large hens trying to keep up with a baby that would outweigh her at 6 weeks old. It ain't gonna happen, but it's a funny mental picture.

Well, I'm trying to get my husband to go pick up a brand new chicken coop I found on craigslist. It's small and will only house 5 or so chickens, but it will be a great transition house for my babies. (and maybe later a breeder pen, but shhhhhhhh, he doesn't have to know that.)
