Had two broodys with no roo so hubby went out for 2 dozen Trader Joe’s fertile eggs. We switched the eggs out in the evening and they didn’t seem to mind so off we went on out hatching adventure. They decided to brood behind our shed so we put a cam on them for their security and our entertainment and left them to do their thing. Candled once in day 7 and found some growth/movement. Candled again on day 14 and removed 13 with no growth. On day 18 at 1am the camera went off and I checked to find a wiley Sylvester cat creeping on our broodys. Sent hubby out to scare him off which had us in stitches as it flung itself through the yard trying to find the fastest way out. We moved our babies and mommas to the coop hoping the disruption wouldn’t harm them. Today was day 21 and I had to drive into work so I was only able to watch on the cam. I couldn’t see anything happening and was feeling sad they may not have made it and then this afternoon we started to see some pips. Hubby set out some chairs by the coop and I’ve been sitting here since I got home all evening watching them break through! So awesome! So far we have 3 fully hatched and a few other pips so will see. I’m so excited! Mommas are getting some much needed rest right now and the peeps are snuggled in for the night. Can’t wait to see how many hatch.

OMG that is so awesome! Congratulations! I've only been to Trader Joes a couple of times and had no idea they had fertile eggs. Please keep us updated with pictures! I'm so excited for you!

Awesome! You're super lucky the cat didn't get them, that was close! Congrats on your babies, can't wait to watch them grow!

We woke up the next morning to 8 chicks! There were still 3 left and a 9th hatched yesterday. Looks like they’re white leghorns which is pretty much what I suspected. I candled the other 2 and one looked liked it stopped growing about a week ago but the other is fully grown. I tossed the one and tucked the last one back in. I’ll probably wait until day 25 before I give up on it.

Awesome! Congrats! Pics please??? 🥰

The last one never hatched so 9 it is. They are settling in and learning how to be big chickens from their chickie mommas. One of which is super protective and growls and pecks at me whenever I get close. They’ll be safe around her for sure.
