Training Squeaker Pigeons

I tossed these five birds today. My weakest flyer and my best bird were home before me from a mile toss. The one with the black tail (I call Kite) took over 7 hours to make it home along with the brown bird I call Ringo and another snow white squeaker.







The good news is they all are home safe and sound!

Hokum at this age are you tossing them as a group rather than single tossing?

Yes I have been tossing them as a group for the first few flights. Latter once they mature I start tossing them individually. They may have been over fed the three that were late because they were in the wrong compartment. Now that I think about it.

I tossed my birds again today. This was almost a 5 mile toss they all made it back before me except Kite!

Kite finally made it back it took him long enough 9 hours!!!

I forced my birds out for a fly around 1900hrs after I finished up roofing for a buddy (they had been loft bound all day).

Bad idea the whole flock took off and did not come back!

This morning around 0600hrs when I got up there was a big doe deer over by the pond.

I check the loft most of my birds were back except the five newest birds I was about to toss 10 miles this week.

Good news the newest birds made it back about an ½ hour ago. Two I think went into the loft Ringo and his nest mate.

Kite and the other 3 are over at the pond.

I got 3 other new squabs I am just starting to trap train.







Kite never made it back into the loft the rest all did it has been 48 hours now I think she fell prey to a predator and that is what dove to flock of initially.
