A couple of days ago, I was removing some of the small chick feeders, now that all of the chickens are eating out of the main feeder, and it had gotten rained on and filled with muck. I pried it open, and there were a disturbing number of maggots wriggling inside. I set it back down on the ground open and the chickens went nuts. They had that cleaned out in minutes.

It is! I also tossed them half a lizard the cat left in the garage and the lead hen snapped it up in a heartbeat!
