Transition of pellets?

Hi everyone, I am super excited to get chickens tomorrow from my parents who are unable to keep the 5 they have. They were born around Easter and my dad has been feeding them starter feed. I want to feed them pellets, can I make a cold switch or so I have to mix it and wean them off the starter feed? Thanks in advance.

I like to mix in the feed I'm changing to over a three or four days - particularly with pellets when they had crumble. But if I was out of the crumble I would not go buy more just to mix in....they will eat the pellet if they are hungry enough! Good luck to you!

Thanks...I am over the moon excited. My hubby wasn't planning on getting them for a couple of years, so he wasn't thrilled with putting up a run-but we nearly have it done and the girls and roo come tomorrow. I think dad is out of crumble, but I have a ton in the garden they can eat, plus a brand new run. There should be enough supplement I think to go cold.
