A couple months back we had to being our BO pullet into our basement infirmary coop due to unspecified illness. Through treatment (Corid, amoxicillin, special diet) we were able to bring her back and she even started laying beautiful eggs (that we sadly couldn't eat re: antibiotics).
Unfortunately, the other hens saw her as a threat upon return so we've had to slowly acclimate them to each other through increasingly long, supervised free ranging and in-run visits. She is finally to the point where she is peacefully coexisting with her former flock mates, however: the temp outside has dropped significantly since we first brought her in.
Since she is used to dry conditions in the 60s down to the low 50s (at the lowest)--how might we make sure integrating her back to her outdoor coop and run won't be too drastic a change? The highs have been in the upper 40s-mid 60s, with the lows down into the 30s, and even the upper 20s. Quite a range, as late fall in SWVA tends to be.
Any suggestions? Will we just have to keep her in for the winter? She so misses being part of the flock and becomes elated every time she gets to reunite (especially since they stopped trying to murder her). I feel sorry for her.
