Transitioning feed

A little Higher protein and nutrition won't make them overweight but too much scratch and treats will I spoil but in moderation I want them to be as healthy as possible
Too high of protein will too make them overweight.

That’s mostly what I’ve read is they need differing protein to fat ratios based on the stage of life. Thanks for your input!
Glad to help and as @Kiki said too high protein can make over weight I say no more than 22% for full grown birds

I prefer to not give my laying birds the choice of eating oyster shell on the side so my birds get a layer type feed.
It will not hurt hens to put them on layer feed a few weeks before they start laying eggs... It's actually better to start them on the layer feed a few weeks before.

Not all hens eat oyster shell on the side. There are actually quite a few threads in the emergency section that show What complications can arise by them not getting enough calcium.
This is what I’m planning on doing. How old do you usually start them on layer?

What breeds do you have?
Well I can tell you what they were supposed to be 🤣 it was supposed to be 3 silver laced Wyandotte’s and 3 RIR/australorp hybrids. I think the 3 hybrids are as advertised but the others…1 is a silver Wyandotte, I think one is a golden Wyandotte and the other one I have is a black mystery bird
