Transporting a chicken?

So we have to get rid of our rooster but we don't know how to transport him without him freaking out. What type of crate should we put hm in? The drive will be about 4 hours.

I just use a large dog crate and cover all but the front. The one I have is large enough for my RIR roo to stand up and turn around. I put down a good layer of hay so the bird is comfortable laying down not slipping around when standing.

Big cardboard box with some air holes punched in. They're quieter if it's dark. For that amount of time you're fine to forgo food and water as long as it's not too hot.
