I am bringing my 5 week old EE cockerel Sulo to his new home today. It will be about an hour drive, give or take a few minutes. I was wondering.. It is alright for him to do this trip alone right? I only have 3 chicks and he will be brought on his own. Just wanted to make sure he won't like.. Drop dead from lack of company for an hour. I am probably a worrywart, so excuse me.

The trip will be harder on YOU than your 5 wk old chick.

Put some treats in his travel box, something for him to peck at, like some greens. He won't need water or food for that short length of time, and at his age, you won't have to drive with the heater on full blast.

Thank you all

I wouldn't be so worried if he had a travel buddy, but 3 chicks is an odd number so in order to do that I would have to make a road trip for ALL of them. He will be going in his 'travel brooder'. He is familiar with it, and as far as he is concerned, that means OUTSIDE time lol! I like the towel idea though.

He will not be an easy goer, trust me. If he can't see my two pullets, sorry HIS two pullets, he is cheeping his little head off lol. It will be good though.. Aw I am sad

I wish I could have a rooster because I would totally keep him. But my mom wants eggs and we don't have the means to keep a seperate pen and all that stuff.

Think good thoughts for the little traveler today
