Hi all,

I'll be going to the Ohio National show tomorrow. Hoping to get about 6 pullets. I have a large cat crate that I figure will comfortably hold 2 standard sized birds. Then a small cat crate that I think will work if we get any bantams. (not sure it will be tall enough for a standard)

I also have a box that is 18lx12wx11h. Will 2 standard sized birds travel well in that? Also thinking maybe I could grab a couple bank/file boxes from Walmart.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks

After searching Google images I'd say do whatever works. Milk Crates, woven baskets, traffic cones with the tops removed

I used a live trap once.

I don't know if it was on this board or not, but I saw some really neat chicken transport boxes. They were banana boxes, and over the bottom and top holes was wire that had been just basically wired into the boxes and then the boxes also have holes on all four sides for ventilation. You could attach feeders and waterers inside there as well! I thought this was a neat idea! Someone also told me that if you take cucumber slices and put them in some water with electrolytes, like overnight, and then put these in the water pan that you attach in your box when you travel, you will have less problems with dehydrated birds. They would be easy to keep in a small styrofoam cup you could carry with you as well. I think that's really neat too!
