In April or May I will be picking up 3-4 day old chicks and maybe 2 full grown chickens. It will be a 3-3.5hr trip by mini van. What should I put them in?

Hello! How exciting for you!

For the three chicks, I would put them in a relatively small box with some pine shavings in it, so that they can snuggle together for warmth. Maybe put some of that save-a-chick gel in there to keep them hydrated and give them something to peck. They might just snuggle up and peep alot, but the box will be dark so once they settle down they can just sleep.

For the adult sized chickens, hopefully you've got a medium sized dog crate. Just put some straw or pine shavings in the bottom of it. If you've got a water bowl or something they can't tip over, that would be good. Don't worry about food during the trip.

Thanks so much everybody
