I am going away from day 18-20 of the incubation and am wondering if it is better to work hard to find someone to come to my house and check on the eggs rotate and everything or can I drive them to my friends house the is 3 min. away and back on the 20th day of incubation. also, what day do marans and ameraucanas pip?
Thanks

Living things have their own agenda but normally in lockdown eggs are no longer rotated.. I've had chicks pipping and even hatching on day 20 so I certainly wouldn't want to move them then. If you trust your incubator you might want to put them in lockdown and hurry home.

The main reason I need someone to watch them is humidity, I have a small incubator so the water pot is quite small and needs to be topped up about every 2 days. thanks so much though!

Personally I would see if someone could come over and add water if neccessary. They don't need to be turned, so you don't have to worry about that, but I would be concerned of the humidity dropping too much during pip-hatch. If your temps were accurate where they needed to be, you would expect to see pipping and hatching day 20/21. If it was slightly warmer for the average, as early as 19 and cooler than it should have been could be day 22-23. Bantams are known to often pip/hatch day 19/20.

Thanks so much! I am going to have someone come over to check on them while I am gone!
