Transporting hatching eggs

I confirmed with the breeder I'm getting buckeyes from that we're still on for late March. So now I'm wondering what the best way to pack them for a 5 hour drive. Since we're picking them up in person I doubt they need to be as thoroughly cushioned as eggs shipped through the mail. But I feel like I'm going to want a little more than egg cartons to help protect against vibrations.

Hi AinaWGSD,

I usually just put the egg carton in a padded cooler bag (no ice of course) zip it up and put it on a seat in the car, you could put a small folded towel underneath if you want a bit more padding though.

More important than packing them is how you drive, take corners easy and go slow over speed humps or anything that will throw them around.

My personal View.
Placing into egg cartons, and transporting in your car,, is just fine. The reason shipped eggs get a BAD RAP.. Boxes get tossed around in trucks. By workers that don't give a hoot<<<< As well as being handled, and pushed/shoved on automatic sorting conveyers.
