Hav-a-hart trps are useless. Once they miss that is it. You still have to kill the coon. You want a sure fire way to trap a coon try this. Take a piece of shinny metal or mirrow and attach it to the pedal of the trap. Place the trap in some water, best if the water has some movement. If you have a creek on your property, stake the trap it the middle of the creek. When you check the trap the coon will be dead. I don't care how smart the coon is, it will place it;s paw on the metal to see what it is. Made many dollars using this matter as a school boy. Paid for all my school clothes and extras. One year I was even able to buy a coon dog and a horse for my sister's birthday gift.

well last night I got 3 after all. I only reset the trap eleventy billion times though

How did you end up getting them? I just bought a trap and put some extra enforcement on the coop. After losing three chickens in three nights last night we saw only evidence of our visitor. It closed the trap, ate the cat food clean through the trap, chewed the wood on the door and siding trying to get in, and moved the fencing and rock that I had propped up against the door. Now I'm losing hope. My husband doesn't come home until Friday and he said he will sit out there all night if he as to. I'm thinking as long as I keep providing the wet cat food it will keep coming back right? My girls are freaked out!
