Trapped skunk, Now what???

Just realized you are in Colorado too.

Definitely be careful. Here on the eastern slope we have had several cases of skunk rabies.

Remember too that skunks are a species that can be rabid more often than some others. Wear gloves if you are handling it, and wash that trap out with disinfectant.

Will do, I don't plan on touching it but I don't want it to scratch me when I pick up the cage.

It would be best just to tarp it and shoot it or it will become somone elses problem when their dog decides he wants a skunk.good luck

A few years ago someone was catching and releasing skunks in my area. We are rural on a dead end road. In a 2 week period I trapped over a dozen skunks. One night I caught 2 skunks in one trap. I never had any try to spray when in the traps. I dug a very big hole on the far side of our property and one by one eliminated the skunks. The hole was quite deep and they did stink when I shot them but I shoveled some dirt over them which helped. I talked to a wildlife officer first and he told me no problem as skunks aren't endangered.

I would be so mad if someone did that to me That's why I would never to that to someone else. Nothing but miles and miles of BLM land 1 mile from my house.

Lol good i would put a heavy duty garbage bag over the tarp and trap so your car doesn't get stinky unless you are putting it into the back of a truck
