I live on the water and have decided to help the dwindling duck population by raising a few ducks per year. I’ve reviewed a number of great elevated brooder ideas and plan to build one soon. I plan to add wheels to my brooder so it can be moved from spot to spot in order to prevent “burning” the area with too much water, fertilizer, and other droppings. Add a wheel to each leg or one on each front leg and move it like a wheelbarrow.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Good luck with your Duck plans. It's not that easy to pen raise ducks for release into the wild. Hand raised birds bond with humans and rely on them for food and comfort. Many of the birds don't survive predation.

Welcome aboard!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I hope you are able to make a difference in the duck population you are trying to rescue. You might want to be prepared to keep them for the long run though, as they will become dependent on you. Best of luck to you! Have you been to the duck forum yet?
