Any snow birds or Rvers have small flocks that travel with them? I have been runing this stuff over in my head and just wonder if it would work. How long does it take before tehy start laying again after travel, or can you make them comfortable enough they don't stop laying. I have bunches of ideas for traveling coops runs etc just wonder if it's even feasible if any one has altready done it. Thanks.

How far are you planning on moving them? I have only moved chickens about 150 kilometers, but I think if you set up a dog crate and kept your windows open, you would be fine.

We had 2 chickens going all over with us when we were burnt out of our home. I had a large dog crate for them with hardware cloth all around and a cardboard roof. Nights would be in the car in a large bunny wire cage. So much work moving them between pens and in and out of yards, car, buildings (they‘d be in the house if we had to drive somewhere at night since they hated driving), moving feeders and waterers... We had no choice but definitely wouldn’t do this if I didn’t have to! And no matter how much shavings we piled in the cages they stank up the car...

I was thinking about taking a half dozen or so or maybe a few more of my banties on the road with us when we are finally able to get a mobile home. had ideas or have them for both a inside coop for a toy hauler style or a rear bumper mounted coop with snug little boxes to keep then from being tumbled too much. then have a couple ideas for portable "run" that can be put out when I'm in an area where they can really stretch their legs. The bumber mounted coop is my favorite idea for the mentioned smell issues. of course it then has the issues of enough air flow vs too much air flow. Dust filtration and keeping them warm enough esp when moving and cool enough when parked thats not that big a deal that has most to do with keeping them in mind when parking.

I have carried them that way. I have made a trailer insert that I pull behind also. Both work. Because I transport show birds, I made each one an individual box/compartment that is fairly tight. Much like a shipping crate, so they can not turn around much and hurt their feathers.

Make sure it has plenty of ventilation but will still keep them reasonably dry in rain or snow.

does it seem to overly stress them mess with their egg laying or cause anymoult issues. I'd love to take my babies with me but not at the expense of their long term health and longgetivity. I'm not that selfish eggs are too cheap and face it if it was only about the eggs most of us wouldn't be doing it anyway. I find them fun and relaxing to watch and interact with. anywhere cool to be would be cooler with my birdies.
