traveling with chicks...

Hi Guys,
Ok...i love my 2 week old chicks! They are so cute and I love watching them grow and change each day! I know I will continue to love them when they become adults. BUT....I'm starting to panic thinking I will not be able to travel...ever, unless I have a Chic sitter. This is true, correct? So do all ya'll with chicks have sitters or just don't travel....HELP! This is my first chic experience...obviously!!

Thanks for the advice! I'm hoping that the neighbor boy who takes care of our dogs will be willing to check on them, and feed and water them too! Possibly my nephew's can help out too!

X2, you are best off to get someone to come check on them once a day or so if possible, but you can leave them alone for a day or two, just be sure you have multiple water sources, and the eggs may be a problem (don't like leaving them collecting in nests and in winter they freeze). With adult chickens, you can usually get your coop and food/water set up so they really need minimal care.. many people use feeders and waterers that last a couple of days before needing refilling anyhow, and you can do roll-away nests even ... so whoever is checking usually just checks once a day to collect eggs and be sure they have food/water. Another good place to check for pet sitters is vet offices.
